Rick Butts Moving to Budapest Hungary

You've probably heard me talking about moving to Eastern Europe and Budapest in particular, for some time now. There has been no official announcment because every time I "decided" something else tripped me up and got me thinking about staying here in Denver.

Why would I leave my beloved Colorado (and the Broncos) and go to Eastern Europe - especially with the Russian Army a few hundred miles away rolling tanks into Georgia?

Thanks for asking!

Fact it, I'm in a pretty interesting time and place in my life - one that has created a window of opportunity unlike any I've known - with fairly unlimited possibilities.

I've sold my house here, and need to move anyway. I have no committment, no lease, no responsibility, or frankly anything that would require me to be in any one place in the world at any time. I make all my income from the Internet and have no partners who would require me to report in. I darn sure don't have to go "into the office" - ever.

My daughter is 25 years old and quite independant and self-directed. I'm very proud of her. Of course, I am single, having been divorced now for almost 5 years.

Why Eastern Europe?

I've always been particularly interested in Eastern Europe and Russia and wanted to spend some time there. After reading the 4 Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris I knew that with my Internet business lifestyle I already had the "muse" or passive income system in place - so when I thought about where I wanted to go I knew my journey would begin in Europe, not South America.

See, I don't like warm weather. Anything over 75 degrees starts to make me uncomfortable. I lived in Houston Texas for 20 years, and spent 2 years in Scottsdale Arizona for the sake of ex-wives and I hated every hot day with a purple passion. I'm a snow bunny at heart and am never happier then in the mountains with snow falling out the window sitting beside a crackling wood fire - sipping expresso - maybe a cookie in there for grins!

So all that Costa Rica, tropical island paradise sounds fun but not nearly as much fun as perusing the museums and rich culture Germany, Switzerland, France, the Czech Republic, Russia and Hungary.

Yeah, but Why Budapest?

My friend Peter Lenkefi, owner of Social Marketing Stretegies one of the 3 owners of Content Desk along with Jack Humphrey and Brandon Hall, lives in Hungary and has been very instrumental in both encouraging me to make this dream a reality and to help answer my questions.

Peter doesn't live in Budapest but 2 1/2 hours Southeast by train (its so fun to say by TRAIN!). He has a rock band and is offering me the chance to audition for the lead guitar spot with them. Just the thought of bringing my Southern Rock/Blues style to a Euroband makes me smile!

So, Im going to start my adventure in Budapest and we'll see what happens from there.

What Happens to this Blog

Oh BABY this is going to be fun! I'm going to be video blogging starting right away about preparing for my journey - and sharing with you all the cool (and scary) and bittersweet parts of selling ALL my personal possesions, walking out the door with a One Way Ticket in my hand.

The "Rick Butts Show" is about to take a leap into high gear with a fun and funky purpose about taking charge of your life - living your dreams - and enjoying the adventure - for a fully grown man 53 years old with a WHOLE LOT of life yet to live!

I invite you to subscribe to this blog so you get notifications of updates.

"What I promise you - is that you'll find RickButts.com to be a totally unique resource for empowering your life - motivation - success principles - and of course, showing you how to fund your crazy dreams with big fat check for a few hours of work a day online."

Of Course I'm Taking Little Dog!

Little Dog Too (remember the Wizard of Oz line - and your little dog, too!) is a 15 lb miniature pinscher, little dog too whom my daughter brought home one day. Rachael left for Montana 2 months later - and Little Dog has been my buddy for the last 7 years.

She can go on the plane as a "carry on." (Don't you wish YOU could go with me as a carry on?) So she'll fly with me from Denver to Munich on September 10th - and Munich to Budapest on September 11th.

Yes, I'm flying on September 11th! Hey, I'm writing a book about this whole adventure - might as well have some interesting sidelights, right?

There are many more details I want to share with you. About the Internet marketing focus blog I'm opening up, a very unique mastermind group I'll be opening up, and how I fully intend to continue to fulfill my mission to:

Help People - Have Fun - Make Money

and how I want you to be a part of that powerful equation.

I appreciate your support, your prayers, and of course, your comments and participation.

As, my book The Safari Chronicles says, "The Greatest Adventure, is the REST of Your Life!"

And, it begins again, right now!

Your Friend,

Rick Butts

I'm so glad you've explained this whole thing! I've been pretty sad about it, but, now that I know the whole story - I'm so happy for you! It all sounds so exciting! I did look this morning at the Wikipedia page on Budapest this morning, and discover how beautiful it looks to be!!

I can't wait to see your posts and videos about it - and read the book! :)

Fred Hopkins @ 5:23 pm

Great stuff man,

Doncha just love the Internet?

I have done a similar thing and have been foot loose since 2004. Living wherever the wind takes me. I love the heat so the winters are spent in the 75+ places.

I can be gone in a few days if I choose with nothing to tie me down.

I'll be watching your journey. Should be fun and I am excited for you.

Go Rick!

Isn't it great when the only thing you really have to worry about is whether you can get a fast internet connection wherever you go :)

Look forward to hearing about your adventures!

BON VOYAGE RICK!

Man, am I ever going to follow your adventures.
Wooohooooo!

You're doing exactly what I want to do and I have to restrain myself from feeling jealous or envious because that wouldn't be very *spiritual* of me but geez do I tremble and salivate at the thought of you getting to do it before I do it.

But I love you still :-)

Big hugs always,

OzaMeilleur @ 5:52 pm

P.S.: Well, not EXACTLY. Not the part about becoming a guitar hero. Though if I knew how to play, I'd go for that too. You are one crazy cool character, sir.

Vicki Flaugher @ 6:08 pm

SO uber cool, Rick! Kudos to you for taking life by the horns. You and Little Dog Too will have a marvelous time! I've heard the women where you're going are pretty drop dead gorgeous - American rock n roll musician full of zest for life and plenty of money in his bank account - hearts will be broken. Of course I will be tuning in to hear about the journey. Sail with the wind at your back and rock on!

Together, we are stronger.

LOL _ Currency arbitrage!

Yes, I named Little Dog Too - Rachael actually had named her Trudy originally.

At the time, my ex-wife had a 110 pound Weimereiner and a 55 lb Rottweiller - so Little Dog became a label and finally a proper noun.

The "Too" part was my kick to the handle.

It's amazing how much clarity you get from making a decision!

Thanks to everyone - the adventure begins!

Rick

Congrats Rick,

Best wishes, rock on, dude!

Is buttapest.com available?

Couldn't resist.

You're an inspiration my big brother!

Lead guitarist in a Hungarian rock band… I don't even know where to go with that ;-)

Godspeed!

Wow, that sounds so exciting! Congratulations and best of luck to you in your latest "adventure." I look forward to hearing about your travels and all you have in store. May you & Little Dog have a pleasant and safe journey to your new home. :)

All the best,
Nicole

Dear Rick,

I know you are excited about this new phase in your life and I'm wishing you all the best.

Since I'm an animal nut, my first thought was "What will you do with Little Dog?" I'm so glad you can take her. I'd heard horrible things about quarantines and stuff like that.

Someday, when you are old and settled like me, come back and live in the good ole USA. Most people LIKE Americans here.

I wish you lots of fun!
Brennan

P.S. I wouldn't take any of Jack's wigs with you though. TeeHee!

Rick,

I lived in Germany for 18 years (hated it!) But I loved being near Switz., Aus, Hung. Czech, and all points west and south. Budapest is so intensely beautiful, and all my relationships with the Hungarian people were wonderful.

Like many ex-pats, I really learned all the things that I loved about America, so when I returned, it was wonderful, and has stayed wonderful for all the time I've been back (10 years).

You are in for a great adventure, and you have so many fans rootin' for you. Enjoy the Crimean Champagne!

Hotcha!

Brian

Mark Nolan @ 10:44 pm

Wow that sounds like fun. I see a bestseller on the way… "Rick and Little Dog's Excellent Adventure." :)

Looking forward to seeing a video of the rock band. Love the mission statement: Help People - Have Fun - Make Money. Very cool.

Bon Voyage,

You are most welcome to Europe and hope will be happy here and explore more of yourself and the world.

Please don't call it Eastern Europe it reminds of too much of the time when we had the Berlin wall. We are now one Europe. :-)

BTW I plan to move from Denmark to the Southern part Portugal I have had enough of our long dark winters in Denmark, that are not really winters anymore, just cold and wet with almost no snow.

Like you I love snow, I mean give me a snow storm for a heat wave anytime. Is it the short days that I want to get away from.

Today I took a drive up into the mountains and in a bizarre and ironic twist of fate - I stopeed at a mountain cafe to have a dandy pan fried trout (right out of the lake below) and discovered that the entire staff was from Prague Czech Republic!

After talking with them - I've been doing a lot of research on switching over to Prague.

Video upload coming right away!

WOW, what a move!

Looks like you sure are following your destiny Rick. Did you ever read "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho? The star of that book went for it - sounds just like you on your new gold dust trail.

Congratulations… seriously. Most folks just wouldn't dare jump a ravine like you have just done.

My best wishes
