Twitter is Currently Down for Maintenance What a Shocker

Twitter is down so much that I think someone could get a LOT of customers by creating an application that would send us an alert when the darn thing is actually WORKING!

I understand that they are growing like crazy – and that they are experimenting with throttling the usage to keep it from crashing so much – but, it is frustrating to begin to rely on the lightening fast communication it provides and see it go down so much.

Reminds me of the early days of cellular when dropped calls – horrible connections – and dead zones were more common than “uptime.”

When it goes down – you can’t even see the PAST tweets and catch up. Is there no cache? Are they cold rebooting the IBM 386/AT computer it runs on?

Every app that is built to run on Twitters api or datafeed collapses which puts code like this on my blog sidebar:

Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to twitter.com:80 (Connection timed out) in /home/rbutt/public_html/wp-content/plugins/twitter_updater/twitter_updater.php on line 15
Connection timed out (110)

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/rickbutt/public_html/wp-content/plugins/twitter_updater/twitter_updater.php:15) in /home/rbutt/public_html/wp-includes/classes.php on line 788

So while Twitter is down – here is a great resource to learn about how to use Twitter super-effectively – when it is up:

Rick,

Now that one goes back a long long way. They really were a great live rock and roll band before George Martin got a hold of them. Thanks for the good memories.

Now if we could get Jeff Bezos to let them Twitter borrow some server space…

Keep up the good work,

Lowell

Now that’s my kind of music. Takes me back. Who knew it’d be so current 40+ years later? Gosh, were we ever that young?
