Stay Motivated by Watching Mexican Television

mexican television univisionDo you have the TV on while you are working on your computer? I do. And I find that certain types of programming really affect my productivity - and sanity.

Usually I have my TV turned to Fox News. It is fast paced and action oriented so there is a positive energy there. The news today, on any channel, contains such an element of sensationalism and voyeurism, that the angle is nearly always negative.

Which is why I have always said, "All BIG NEWS is BAD NEWS." I used to refer to CNN as "Constantly Negative News."

So, today, after getting back in the Big Chair at the Rick Butts Show I was flipping up to find a new channel and landed upon my new video wallpaper - Mexican Television.

I'm in Denver so I am watching Comcast Channel 14, a show called Escandalo TV.

The thing about Mexican television is that they put scantily clad sexy dancing women in any type of show. Imagine Oprah Winfrey if she came out to introduce the next show only there were 4 Hooters type girls, dressed in thong bikinis and spike heeled sandals dancing beside her - and you got the picture.

The other thing about Mexican Television is that the women on these shows are not just your ordinary sexy girls you might see on TV in the US, but they go waaaaay over the top.

To get on TV in Mexico you have to wear fake eyelashes, a micro-skirt, the clear plastic giant high heeled stripper shoes - tons of makeup, the largest breasts possible with as much of them as you can expose "stickin' in the camera" (Dire Straits) and you must not, at any time, stand still. These girls are dancing, swaying, and nearly smooching the camera at all times in super vamp mode.

If you are a guy - the top 5 buttons on your shirt are not needed as you must expose as much bare chest and six pack abs as you can. The result is that on the soap operas and regular situation comedies and dramas - a still shot often resembles the cover of a Harliquin Romance paperback book.

So I am going to give Fox News a break for a while - and watch Mexican TV with the sound down - and maybe a good Jack Humphrey video tutorial playing as I work.

When I need a break from all the blatant sexuality and bright primary colors, I'll go over to my other favorite alternative, Country Western Music Videos with the sound turned down!

I've sat and watched MexTV and got nothing done. It only motivates me to watch more! I'd learn Spanish, but why bother? I wouldn't be interested in what they were saying anyway! It is a great little past time though.
