Site Flipping
Sitepoint's Peter T Davis has posted an excellent article on flipping (buying, fixing up, and selling) websites.
I highly recommend you go there and read it!
"It's like playing a game — a game that has the potential of enormous profits, sure, but it's always been the thrill of the chase that keeps me interested. Ever since I started buying and selling web sites about four years ago, one fact has remained constant: web sites are undervalued assets."

Awesome resource Rick! I have also been flipping for a while now and it really can pay if you are willing to commit to building traffic and generating an income from each one.
I have some great resources for your users if they are interested in web 2.0 and social network marketing strategies at http://www.relativitycorp.com and the best part is they are free. You don't even have to sign up.
To your success!

Good article. I talk a lot about that game as well, although I do things a little differently.
I buy good domain names, develop them, drive a little traffic to them, then sell em' on eBay.
I just got boned today however. (Talked about this on my blog today (LLCMagazine.com).
I bought AmbienRx.net, thinking I could make some good cash from advertising (and I did)…only to have it taken away from me today because of intellectual property violations….ugggh!
Keep on, keepin on!
Gary,
What a bummer. I considered doing that with a Walmart domain that I found in the expired bin.
Sorry for your losses.

The topic of site flipping is so huge, with so many dimensions, it needs a much better treatment.
I will be looking for an expert guest to interview on the topic.
My perspective is that the "Big Boy" domainers have so polluted the general site flipping environment that you have to employ guerilla, niched tactics in order to make it lucrative.

Rick,
You are totally right when it comes to having to employ guerilla and niched tactics to get the sites to sell.
I would also say that because the market has been saturated by multiple large internet real estate firms the process and terms have come under higher scrutiny.
The sites I have been selling lately for a premium price have been doing two things well. They have been attracting traffic in an increasing fashion and making an income. That formula seems to be the best seller in any market.
